As it have always been said that a good writer writes about what affect the society s(he) lives in. This clearly comes out in the play in this book. the book potrays how religion has always been used to oppress and take advantage of the poor by 'robbing' them the few they have left as it can be seen today whereby the churches have been commercialized as represented by Muthemba, while there is also a sect that leans on tradition as mutema and still disregards the changing world. the book also brings out clearly
how religion and politics are intertwined and here Chilulu and Muthemba plays greater role. finaly at the end there is hopes for the ' mislead sheep by the 'gready hyenas' who only think of themselves and earthly riches while malnourishing the spiritual aspect of there congregation.
