WATSON, (Matilda, m. 3 Watson, George, Lewis, Joshua'), born, 1834; died, April 9th, 1905. Married: Joseph Watson was born in Penn's Valley, Pa. He served in the Civil War in the 5th Penn. Reserves. He was seriously wounded at the battle of Fredericksburg and given an honorable discharge. In 1866 he moved to Joliet, Ill., and was keeper and purchasing agent for the State Prison for twenty-seven years. Children, surnamed Watson: Lewis,6 2 and five others. 4 BELLE WATSON, (Matilda, m. Children, surnamed Riddle: Blanche, Bertha L.,6 Homer S.6 MARY LEET WILLIAMS, (Lewis B., George, Lewis, Joshua'), died, Jan. 18th, 1916, in Indianapolis, Ind., and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery. Unmarried. 3 Miss Williams lived in Indianapolis, Ind., for many years before her death. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and organist of the church. She had high standing as a piano teacher. In 1874, Robert Elliott Williams, half-brother of her father, wrote: "Mary Williams is a noble girl who secures the respect as well as the good-will of every person with whom she comes in contact. ... She is possessed of much character and amiability. At present she is all alone at Danville, in the state of Indiana, where she seems to have a reasonably fair prospect of establishing herself as a teacher of music. She certainly understands the Art, and is a good performer on several instruments; besides which she possesses peculiar tact and skill in interesting and advancing pupils in the study". Mr. Cross was in the iron business in Pittsburgh in 1881, and was still living there in 1897. No issue. 3 2 LUCY BELL CROSS, (Jane Hudson, m. Cross, George, Lewis, Joshua'), born, Feb. 27th, 1850. Married: Alexander Wiley. Mr. and Mrs. Wiley formerly lived in Newark, Ohio, where he was in partnership with Mr. Hugh Wallace, a brother-in-law of Mrs. Wiley. They later lived at New Brighton, Staten Island, and East Liverpool. Mr. Wiley died many years before his wife. No issue. 4 CROSS, (Jane Hudson,* m. Unmarried. 3 George Elliott moved from Pennsylvania to the west, in 1882. He lived in Beatrice, Nebraska, for twenty years; in 1902 he moved to Denver, Colorado. 2 4 MARY CATHERINE ELLIOTT, (Catherine, m. Elliott, George,3 Lewis, Joshua'), born, Dec. 27th, 1852; died, May 26th, 1924. Unmarried. Went in 1882 with her parents to Beatrice, Nebraska, where she lived until 1902, when she and her brothers moved to Denver, Colo. 2 CHARLES JAMES ELLIOTT, (Catherine, m. Elliott, George, Lewis, Joshua'), born, Feb. 11th, 1862. Married: May 12th, 1904, Tabitha Galbreath McCollough, born, Dec. 10th, 1860, daughter of James and .. (Hays) McCollough of Newville, Pa. In 1902 the Elliott family bought thirty-two hundred acres of land on which they had lived for two years before the marriage of Charles Elliott. After his marriage he and his wife established themselves on the ranch and he devoted himself to cattle raising for several years. As the country settled up and there was an increased demand for land, the family gradually disposed of part of their holding until they had sold nineteen hundred and twenty acres. In 1923 Mr. Elliott's ranch consists of twelve hundred and eighty acres along Wolfcreek subirrigated bottoms, much of it set to alfalfa along the two miles of heavy timber skirting Wolfcreek. About six hundred acres are under cultivation, one hundred acres in wheat, in 1921 yielding 340 bu. to the acre. Mr. Elliott erected a 200 ton silo in 1914 and fattens cattle for the Denver market. The ranch is situated fifteen miles southwest of Strasburg, Col. Mr. Elliott is Treasurer of the Wolfcreek Branch Presbyterian Church, of the Telephone Company, and of the Grange. No issue. They are living near Fort Scott, Kansas."
